A lovely Friday night

Nothing says Romantic Friday Night in our house, like snow plowing with your husband.. I don't know what it is, maybe the adrenaline, but  I like our one-on-one time in truck. He is super relaxed, and in the zone. But a good zone, where he feels comfortable & can talk & talk he did tonight. So he finally confessed about why he's been so quiet all week. ( and I thougth it was me, or it was losing Sammy, or ____ ) A good friend/we'll say one of the first guys he worked for in the landscape industry, passed away this past Monday. I let hubs talk. He talked about how this guy never mentioned family, was married & divorced a couple of times, but never had kids. when this guy didn't show up for the snow storm on Monday morning, & didn't answer his phone, a co-worker went to his house & found him, apparently had a heart attack. My hubs has been in shock all week. I didn't say.. oh so that's why you finally called the doctor & went in.. oh that's why you did xxx this week. I just let him talk. I was greatful for the time alone  to talk. It's not the dinner out or movie I wanted, but good talking is the best.

When we dated & up until peanut was in utero. When i wasn't working ( my day job) I would always go out w/hubs and just ride along, I guess I miss those talks for the last couple of months that peanut was in the picture.   My wellies were getting a little hot, & I had to use the bathroom so he brought me home, so again another snow night & I'm going to bed by myself. I really enjoyed the 5 hours of uninterrupted time w/ him tonight..

Need Ideas

I need ideas ( help! )

Hubs went to the family dr. today.. his BP is high ( I knew that ) but he is in denial, that he has an issue. Well I think it's more he'd like to overlook it. He also needs to lose some weight..
He gets a report card like sheet he brings home w/ all his stats & all treatments and doctors advice from the visit. He hid it from me, saying everything was ok. ( geez ) and he thinks i'm not going to look at it.

The 2 areas I need helpful ideas...

A) How to get hubs to eat better. (Doctors recommendation: more fruits, vegetables & whole grains )
None of which hubs will even touch. The only veg's he will eat green beans, corn & lettuce ( i don't consider corn a vegetable, but he does )  The doc wrote, drink more water, drink less soda & juice. He drinks almost a 2 liter of Coke a day.  You'd have thought I asked him to cut off his leg, when I suggested he support me & do the Gluten Free & Dairy Free diet with me for TTC. So yes, we don't eat much of the same foods at a meal. If I only cook what I can eat, he'll run out for fast food, he is a super fussy eater. I knew this going into marriage, but didn't think it was this bad. I thought it was more that he didn't like the way things are prepared.  No crockpot or casseroles in this house, my MIL ruined that for me.
B) How to get him to get some exercise.  Here in the frozen tundra, where it's dark at 5pm.. it's not easy to go out & walk every night right now. I am paying on a gym membership, that he is not using.
He balked when I asked him to take the mail out the other day. knowing him he probably drove to the mailbox. In the summer he is more active, but still doesn't do anything "cardio" wise.

Dr. apparently recommended to him that he wants him to see a nutrionist.. ( which i know he won't do ) I don't like the one the doc would send him to anyways..

I'm hoping w/ his dad having had 1 surgery already & another in 2 weeks for Cancer, that it would scare him into doing something.. but.. I am not optimistic.

little steps

I got hubs to call his doctor. Well really I pestered him soo much that he finally gave in. They told him he should be taking his blood pressure medicine, until they tell him to stop. His wife telling him he should be taking it wasn't good enough. Also to take a daily multivitamin.. score 2 for the wife.  They are going to see him in 2 weeks and check him out.  Since taking BP medicine, he is much calmer.. a little less agitated.  Little feats !!   Now to get some exercise on his schedule..

A little humor for the day.

Maybe you need a little uplifting laugh today, like I did. I got a little chuckle.

It popped up on Gr.oup.on when I was purchasing a magazine deal today.

The Gr.oup.on Guide to: Where Babies Come From

Having “the talk” with your child can be awkward—especially if your child is still too young to understand the nuances of human reproduction or, worse, is a giggler. Postpone the difficult conversation a few more months with one of these classic explanations about where babies come from:
• Babies are dropped down the chimney by storks who swoop down and steal them from other families.
• Babies are hatched from the cabbage patch, so if you think about it, eating vegetables is essentially cannibalism.
• Babies are assembled at the hospital and wrapped tightly in a blanket until all the glue is dry.
• When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much, their psychic harmonics produce an cytoplasmic egg that must be kept in a dark closet for nine months.
• Babies are an invention of the celebrity-obsessed media to sell magazine covers of pregnant starlets.

I like the one about the glue drying.

Icing on the cake

I am the last person on the planet who does not have a smart phone, and our work policy does not allow us to go to FB or some blogs while on the work network.  So most days I get all the days surprises all at once, when I get home. Today was no exception.

My SIL  sent the family a FB message this morning that she & her "clan" are expecting #5.  I ran away from FB immediately.. I was soo mad. It's like i'm being punished, or this is some sick cruel joke. The knife in the back, is they got married exactly 3 months before us. They will be celebrating 7 years of marriage this next week. I don't hate her for being so fertile ( well part of me does ) she had surgery w/ Dr. H in her teens for some issues early on. Told her until she got married, she may never know if she can have kids. ( she contemplated becoming a nun). My in-laws are friends w/ Dr. H. but say they will do anything to make it happen if I want to go to Omaha. but when it comes down to it, they always say it's bad timing, etc, etc. I have been in the room & heard Dr. H call & deep down, i'm like just give me 1 minute on the phone w/ him. But back to the SIL. after she had kid #1-10 months after her marriage. I was deeply embarrased.. I must have been doing something wrong, she told me.. ( LOL ) She told me that I needed to practice NFP & i would get prenant in a jiffy. ( I took the classes before we got married --she on the other hand, got a hand-me-down book from her fertile sister, but never learned to chart or anything from anyone) She had kid#2 14 months after kid #1. the others are about 23- months apart. I digress.. She lives 4 hours away. also 3 miles from the closest Na.Pro doc. who also happens to be her obgyn. Conveniently.. My in-laws pay for her everything when she comes home, ( gas, food, entertainment, etc) This last time, they were home the parents sent them to a hotel for an overnight.. & they watched all the grandkids. ( hmmm ) guess what they are expecting 9 months from then.... baby #5..  this watching the grandkids & putting them & her sister in a hotel.. has netted by in laws a few kids in the past few years..   I would love for them to send us away for a wekeend ( oh yeah, they can babysit our business too )

I haven't responded to her FB announcement..  probably won't .. She too knows we had a miscarriage at xmas..  Funny thing she made a big deal. about seeing us last weekend.. ( she was in town ) she told the parents then. We didn't have the time, + she brought the flu , along w/ her kids.. +  a snow storm. I am so glad I didn't make the time to go see her w/ out my hubby.. I would have lost it. But hey the FB announcment is much better than having to fake it in person. on FB I can ignore her, but in person, I would have to fake smile & pretend to be happy.

Just wait someone else in hubs family will come up pregnant soon, to dig the knife even deeper.

hard time -TMI

Today is CD1.. I knew it was coming, not because I had any signs, because I knew the chart did not receive any "I" 's at the right time( well let's be honest, not at all this chart) , partly due to I was only cleared to "I" At the beginning of it, partly due to SNOW ( See previous post, about SNOW ), partly due to me not understanding my husband.  I don't get what his "issue" is lately. I get it he owns a business, it can be stressful. I finally bared it all yesterday.. Well PMS helped me be brutally honest. I said put on your big boy pants, suck it up & go to the doctor. He refuses to admit "anything" is wrong w/ him.  I said please help me understand why you are not in the mood. or "can't " still he can't communicate what the issue is. It's very frustrating to me. It's about this time in my cycle when not on meds, that I get to the point, where I am questioning myself, WHY am I  putting myself thru this. Just this once, I would like him to step & have to take a needle poke, or one of what seems like a 100 pills a day, or some uncomfortable exam.

Don't let me get into the agony of Valentines Day. .I just seems stressing now.  We are expecting a snow storm, so I don't expect much.

Just wish I hadn't given up Dairy & Wheat for lent, cuz I could cause some damage in the kitchen if he was gone. Let's not get into the fact ,that I asked him, if he could give up dairy OR wheat w/ me for Lent, so he could support me..  ( and our TTC efforts ) the reaction, was kinda like, I asked him to cut off his leg or something. I did make a list for our fridge of my banned items, so he gets it.. cuz last time I was doing the diet, he would say, how about pizza 2nite..  he wouldn't get the harm in any of the ingredients.

I just keep repeating, Love is Patient, Love is Kind. .....

Snow

I love the snow ... how serene, how clean, how pure, how simple everything looks.

& I dislike the snow because it has been so COLD, windy, dreary, & my hubby is gone when it is snowing
( and when he comes home he is grumpy after the snow)

roads were horrible

See the snow whipping of the roof

windy

snow everywhere

B Shower pt 2

I didn't want to slow down your viewing session with a lot of pictures.

The favors... we tried to tie as many things to the childrens books as possible. So we gave everyone  "give a mouse a cookie" cookies in a jar mixes.  We made 3 different cookies.. Button cookies, White Chocolate Cranberry or traditional Chocolate Chip Cookies.

The food.. all related to childrens books.
We had The Hungry Catepillar Fruit Salad, ( Veggie's in the shape of the catepillar too)
Green & eggs & ham -- Spanikopita
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-coconut shrimp& chicken
Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs --meatballs
Three little pigs--- pigs in the blanket ( they were all gone by the time i took pictures)
Popeye's --- spinach salad.
Hop on POP -- carmel popcorn. -grandma makes it homemade.
one fish 2 fish,  -- we had goldfish crackers on the tables for people to munch
and we had Pinkalicious- pink lemonade to drink

Brady thought everything was YUMMY!

My husband thinks it's totally unfair, that we had cake that we couldn't eat.
The ribbon, is hot pink w/ green whales ( they are from cape cod) so it's totally cool !!

B shower pictures part1

My little sisters baby shower was last weekend. Surprisingly I didn't break down & cry. I managed thru it.
Hosting helped, because I was sooo busy doing everything, it made it easy to not pay attention to all the little conversations & not be too engaged.   Here's a picture of the cute preggo. She's only 25 weeks. This is when she had time off from work to trek 1/2 way across the country to visit the family.

We did a "book" theme, so the food was all somehow related to a children's book.
So the handmade cupcakes were from "where the wild things are"
Another sister decorated each one.

My mom found my P/interest account in the last month & saw a cute idea to set up something on a changing table.. On P/interest they did the drinks. We did desserts.  The changing table will be making its way to my house. The monkeys don't sit still anymore for diaper changes & the sister the shower is for, came from the east coast. She is getting all new furniture.. soo I am okay with hand me downs for the future peanut.

Here's what the living room looked like all set up before the mayhem started.

I think my mom's house is pretty plain.. so we made hot pink, black & white tissue paper flowers. Well I can take credit for the idea & showing my mom & sister how to make the first one & they went to town. Apparently my step-father was bored one night & helped "fluff" the flowers, my mom was folding. It gave the otherwise "boring" room a little color & was very "girly"

Last picture for this post..  The mantle.. I had my mom take down all her knick-knacks & it was decorated  with the tissue flowers & a bunch of kids books.
