So Lizzie, Mr. Lucky and I went out of town for the weekend, for my younger cousins wedding.
Yes I had the blessing of Lizzie's doctor for her to attend. ( just don't let strangers kiss her on the lips.) If circumstances were different we might not have gone, but this was going to be our only opportunity to see several family members.
It is normally a just under a 4 hour drive to the area we were going. We made it there in a little over 4 1/2 hours. One tiny stop for a diaper and a little snack forLizzie. Then a little lunch stop for all. ( I fed her while Mr. lucky grabbed food for us, )
We stayed at a hotel familiar to us. We knew what amenities to expect and what we should bring for Lizzie. Also is on the beach! Too bad it rained and got cold when we arrived on Friday.
We got there, and decided to let Lizzie stretch out after being in the car seat so well. Which turned into a nap for all!! There was a big festival in town ( involving Cherries) ? Lizzie got up from the nap, we fed and changed clothes, and went out for a little ride to find food, and check out the festival from the car. (First time taking her in a sit down restaurant) thankfully it was after the dinner rush, so our food came quick, and she slept peacefully so we could eat. We went for a little walk on the beach, when we returned, and then went to our room. To get ready for what the night ahead would hold.
I thankfully report, she slept like an angel. She did get up twice during the night, but she got quick changes, fed, and went back to sleep. We brought her rock and play. Which was a lifesaver. She also co-slept, during a couple feeds. ( she loves snuggling up next to momma) -- means momma sleeps very light. We got up at 6 am like normal, she was"up" so the two of us, went down to the breakfast room, and got momma food. By 7am she was asleep again, so she and I slept until 10am.
My sisters and nephews came down, and played for a bit, so I took a shower, and Mr. Lucky took nephews to the arcade.
Aunt M did my hair (just blowed it really well ). Mr. Lucky went and got us lunch and brought back to the hotel, and we fed/dressed Lizzie, we got on the road, 15 minutes later than I would have liked, but still made it to the wedding in plenty of time. ( wedding was in a park, overlooking a lake) .
She did great outside for the hour. We opted to go back to the hotel so we could let her relax( there was a 2 1/2 hr gap between wedding/reception. )
Her great aunts were so excited to hold her, when we got to the reception ( my dads sisters) . everyone was good about distance and touching, but overall thankful we came.
Oh and the groom asked to hold Lizzie, as he was holding and staring at her, he says, I've never held a baby before!! He held her for a good minute!! I said I hope you are holding one of your own soon. (Sorry no pic)
There were fireworks a part of the festival in town, but also right across from the the reception. We opted to go back and watch from our hotel.(about 3 miles away) they were shot off out in the bay water. So visible for miles. The fireworks didn't phase her at all.
Slept thru the fireworks

She went to bed at her normal time 11pm. She got up 2 times during the night. She co-slept, and nursed when she wanted. I didn't have to get up and pump during the night, so when she got up at 7am we were both refreshed. I put her in the Chicco carrier we brought and we went and got breakfast. She nursed on and off til we left the hotel at 10:30am.
We made a couple of quick stops for goods, we like to pick up on our way out of town. She was a champion car rider. We stopped once for diaper and food for everyone (sit down restaurant)
Fudge
We had several people during the weekend make comments ; oh who did you leave your other kids with? She is such a sweet baby. Oh she's so little. You are brave to take a newborn out. How many others do you have. You must have others you are too relaxed to be a first time mom.
I have to say, it was much easier than I expected. She slept better than she does at home. Daddy was highly impressed how well she did. Although you have to bring much more along with a little one. Daddy packed the car well, and other than peeing on her dress as we were leaving/diaper change for the wedding no major wardrobe malfunctions.
We did dip out toes in the water before we left.
