Patron Saint

After reading TCIE's post about per patron saint for 2012 tonight, I meandered over to :
http://www.jenniferfulwiler.com/saints/  to choose one for myself.

I let the computer due it's magic and this is what showed up:

St. Marguerite Bourgeous

Patron: Against poverty; impoverishment; loss of parents; people rejected by religious orders; poverty.

I find it interesting that she is who was chosen for me.  Today is the 8th anniversary of my fathers funeral.  I remember certain details very vividly.  I remember it being very very cold out; in the middle of a blizzard actually.  It was snowing about an inch an hour. I remember putting my letter to him  in the secret compartment in his casket. I remember having to take  his hat and the medals off his Army uniform before they closed the casket; while everyone was waiting in the church for the mass of burial to begin.  I remembered the giant red poinsettias that adorned his casket. I remember the playing of taps in the snowy cemetery and the 21 gun salute. I remember the servicemen folding the flag ever so carefully and tucking the shell casings into the flag. Handing it to their officer & him presenting it to me saying: on behalf of the President & the United States of America. We thank him for his service to our country. That flag is sitting in a case in my living room.

I will be surely praying with St. Marguerite Bourgeous this year, and feel comforted by her !

So what's in a name?

Sunshine is what my first "boss" called me; because I always was smiling & had a positive outlook, no matter what the day brought us. Someone that I currently work with heard the nickname & jokes with me if I don't have a smile, saying where's the sunshine.

Lucky, well because I'm Irish.

The pesimist in me lately thinks because of the crummy weather we are lucky when we have sunshine.

Well with the good & bad we get Lucky as Sunshine

Na.Pro Dr.

So I am at a loss as what to do next.

The Na.Pro ob/gyn that I sent all my medical files to, is now on medical leave.  He likely won't be back to work until sometime in February.  The bummer part is after 2 calls & several e-mails, he never got back to me.  Realistically he is the closest Doc to me.. at 3  1/2 hours away; but I am having serious reservations if he is the right doc for me.  The thing I was not impressed about was his office staff, A)who are not NaPro trained/sensitive. B) no regards for the distance I am from them.  C) return phone calls from his nurse took way to long & she never answered any of my questions.

I have only been charting NaPro since September 2011.

I would like anyone's feedback. Should I wait it out, or expand my horizons to another NaPro Doc.

Prayer Buddy Reveal

I have had the opportunity to get to know better (sorry for the lurking) & pray for
Life As We Know it... Robbins Style    please know I have prayed daily, offered up your intentions at daily mass, I also had my religious ed students offer up your student in our prayers and at our weekly children's mass.  Your intentions were also offered up at the S.ilent Night Chapel in F.rankenmuth, Michigan, when I visited it during Advent.  I hope through my prayers, your prayers are answered, and you have an easier time to make your important decisions. Merry Christmas and many blessings in the New Year.

Christmas

On Christmas Eve, we took my sister, nephew E & 6 day old nephew to church.. my sister said she needed an extra hand ( or two). They then came over for dinner. Nothing special, but sister # 3 came over also. Then the grandma's came over to see the baby.  We let the nephews open 1 present that Santa dropped off at our house for them, while we were at mass. My sister told us that E could not have a remote control car at his house, but he could have one at our house, so that's what he got. My hubby bought himself one about a month ago & he and E absolutely have a blast playing with it. So hubby has a BIG one & E has a little one. They had a blast playing with them. All E can manage is bumping into walls, but he just laughs & giggles every time he does it.

WOW, was the big word of the night.. E doesn't like to talk much.. but WOW was, the Christmas lights, WOW , was the remote control car, WOW was dessert, WOW was the Santa toy that sings.   Soo cool to be two again.

We woke up this morning, and made bacon & sausage to take to my mom's house for breakfast. Drove over to open presents with my siblings, stayed to play with some more toys with E. Got home in time to take a 1 hour nap before heading to hubby's family for dinner.  We had dinner & got to open presents with 7 of 14 nieces/nephews.  all the under 5 crowd got jammies from us.. & for whatever reason,, the 4 of them all wanted to wear their jammies to dinner.  After dinner we listened to a CD that grandpa wanted everyone to hear & their was a quiz on it.  Then the kiddo's performed a Christmas pagent.. I was lucky enough to help out & be the Angel Gabriel.  we all had impromptu costumes ( whatever we could find lying around) baby Jesus was given "practical gifts from the wisemen" like diapers, wipes & baby lotion. -- all kid production. very cute..
We then put on some old VHS home videos of my hubby & siblings ... had a riot watching them.

Thank  you prayer buddy, for praying for me! I had a nice, calm & peaceful Christmas!

Birthday

The best birthday present ever.  I got to sleep in ! Nothing to do today, so I leisurely got up, ate breakfast, and took a nice long hot shower. I did a little shopping mid-morning. Not so succeessful. I think the stores are pretty well picked over.  So I'll wait til the madness ends & go looking in another week.  My hubby took me out for an early dinner. We went to an Irish pub, after dinner we stopped at my in laws house to chat, and then the best treat, my hubby stopped at the F.armers Market with me. It is normally on Saturday during the day, but because of Christmas they were doing it Friday evening. He had never been before.  He had never met the wonderful farmers who supply us with fresh eggs, meat, cheese, and veggies.  We belong to a CSA  during the summer; with some very nice mennonite farmers, they always ask about the hubby, but he is always busy.  So this was a very nice treat.  Going to finish off the night with the last piece of Birthday cake, from our celebration earlier in the week.

Going to go visit my dad & grandpa in the morning.. keeping my head up; I know they are looking down on us this week.

the holiday sadness is starting

The holiday sadness hit me a little bit today. I was vacuuming when it hit.  I am guessing partly, because this is the first day in like 2 weeks that I slept in and didn't have anything urgent pop up, and had time to "think".   Partly because I have 1-2 people constantly bugging me, I haven't got your Christmas list, what do you reallllly want!   I have to be nice because one of these is my mother in law.  I seriously think she just doesn't get it.  I keep trying to remind her it's a gift so whatever YOU want to get me is what you are going to  get anyways.  ( I've tried giving her lists, pictures, sizes, etc ) but she is not a detailed person. She doesn't like when I tell her, you can't buy what I want.   So if you are listening Santa,  the 2 things I want:  1) a child  -- I'm not picky, a boy, or girl,  surprise me !    2) one more day with my dad -- I don't think i'm being unreasonable I'm not asking for months, years, or decads,, just one more day,, heck i'd even settle for a minute or an hour.
