CURED is the foundation that supports the research of some doctors to find a solution for Eosinophilic Disorder (s) their are varying degrees of ED.
We know a little girl who has Eosinophilic, so severe, she can not have any food via mouth. Can you imagine.
First imagine not being able to take part of one of the fundamental things in our society. Eating.. Not being able to break bread with your family. Not able to have birthday cake at your birthday celebration. Have you gone to any sort of family gathering, celebration, or party & not had some sort of food!!
This little girl has all nutrition via a feeding tube. She has one of the more severe cases. Some of the kids with ED go thru intense allergy testing, and rigorous blood testing, and have LONG lists of foods, they can/ cannot have. Gluten is one of the most common foods they all cannot have.

A bonus of the event today, beyond learning more about ED, is there are a lot of giveaways from Gluten Free (GF) vendors. There also is a huge raffle.. like 100's of raffle items. A lot of GF gift baskets.

What a great foundation!! I can't imagine not eating food. Just cannot imagine. My prayers for that little girl!!
ReplyDeleteMy dad has a feeding tube that mainly feeds him due to an issue in absorbing food nutrients though his intestines. He went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester about 15 years ago and prior to that, was always deathly ill. Although he has a feeding tube now, he still eats a little at meals, as it is so ingrained in us humans to eat food.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine not eating food either...makes you feel pretty grateful for the simple things we can do and take for granted when you realize someone else can't do that...I'm humbled. Great foundation and the event looked like fun!
