em·pa·thy
ˈempəTHē/
noun
- the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
I never knew how to react to someone losing a child, or pregnancy until it happened to me. There is a deep kinship, if you will, of mom's who have lost. Sometimes I know - I feel- I just deep down know. Sometimes I don't have to say much, just a hug or a smile, or a meal, or conversation is all they need.
Still, often, I am left without words at time of loss.
No words are adequate in the situation. "I'm sorry" is the most common, but does it truly help. Yes & No.
I share the feeling of emptiness with them often.
